Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program (SSCCPP)The Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program (SSCCPP) targets community college students considered low- income and/or underrepresented in medicine providing exposure to medicine and health through topics in health disparities, leadership challenges in health provision and administration, science success strategies, professional development, clinical exposure, successful preparation for the medical school application process, postsecondary and graduate/professional school financing. Sponsored in part by the California Wellness Foundation, this project is designed to impact the San Francisco Bay area and its contiguous counties, promoting growth and diversity of the health workforce in the region. Participants must demonstrate that they have experienced educational or academic barriers to pursuing their education, and plan to serve in the Bay Area as Physicians. Selectees will be awarded a scholarship that covers all program expenses including housing, meals, participation fees and materials. Participants will be immersed in topic areas including: Critical reading and research of medical literature. Civic leadership, and political activism in medicine. Anatomy and cellular/molecular biology classes. An introduction to the MCATAcademic success and test- taking strategies. The medical school admissions process.
